KIU, NUTECH Join Hands to Promote Technical Skills in GB
Karakoram International University (KIU) and the National University of Technology (NUTECH), Islamabad, have agreed to collaborate on promoting technical and vocational skills across Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
Dr. Aftab Ahmed Khan, Director of the School of Continuing Education and Professional Development at KIU, met with Major General Naiknam Muhammad Baig, Pro-Rector (Skills) at NUTECH, to discuss launching skill-based programs at KIU’s main and sub-campuses. The programs will focus on industry-relevant training to equip youth with employable skills in sectors such as renewable energy, ICT, and hospitality management.
General Baig expressed NUTECH’s full support, offering technical guidance, curriculum development, and instructor training. Both institutions plan to formalize the partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish Skill Development Centers at KIU, providing modern vocational education to students in remote mountainous regions.
The initiative aligns with Pakistan’s National Skills Agenda and aims to generate employment, reduce poverty, and strengthen human capital in Gilgit-Baltistan.
