An effective and transparent financial system plays a key role in the success of any institution. At Karakoram International University, the Finance Department, under the leadership of the Treasurer, is responsible for managing all financial matters, resources, and assets of the university. Its responsibilities include fulfilling the requirements of all teaching, research, and administrative departments through the procurement of furniture, laboratory equipment, IT devices, library books, journals, and more. Additionally, it prepares the university’s annual budget and ensures its approval from the relevant forum.
The Finance Department also ensures the collection of fees from students of the university as well as from affiliated educational institutions through authorized banks. Securing annual developmental and non-developmental grants from the Higher Education Commission is also one of the key responsibilities of this office.
The department maintains and updates the financial transactions of all university employees and students through a computerized system. Effective measures have been taken to prevent unnecessary expenditures so that budget deficits do not occur. To strengthen the internal financial system, financial records and annual financial estimates are regularly audited by a certified Chartered Accountant firm and the Auditor General of Pakistan.
For the implementation of a transparent financial system within the university, the Finance Department’s dedicated staff and trained officers work diligently and with full commitment.
